Video Game Testing and Research

Immersyve tests games, prototypes, and vertical slices using its "Player Experience of Need Satisfaction (PENS)" model, which has proven to predict fun, value, sustained engagement, and player enthusiasm much more successfully than traditional approaches (such as observation, focus groups, behavioral data mining).

Gamification Services

"Gamification" - whether you love the term or not - is a meaningful idea if you understand its value in the right way. It's the application of game mechanics to help deepen and sustain customer relationships and value. Ultimately, the goal is motivation - not games per se. Game mechanics and techniques are simply a tactic to achieve that motivational goal.

Unfortunately, many of the gamification providers in the marketplace (and lots of companies that rush too quickly to gamification), make the mistake of confusing the tactic of game mechanics as the goal. They want to make their business "more gamelike" or "turn my bakery wholesale company into a game" or other such things. That can often lead to ill-advised decisions to wrap glitzy badges and rewards around customer experiences that not only don't sustain motivation or build value, but can actually hurt the relationship with the customer because it communicates that the value lies in the badges and points, rather than the substance of your business.

When working with companies on gamification, Immersyve's approach is to begin with the more meaningful goal of motivation and sustained engagement, and to ensure that deepening the customer's relationship with you is achieved by thoughtfully applying select game design and mechanics that facilitate an authentic satisfaction of their psychological needs for autonomy, competence, and relatedness - communicating to customers that your organization and its offerings are where the value lies - not the badges and confetti sprinkled on top.
